My husband and I adopted Aracelli from our local Humane Society. She immediately walked over to me and pressed her cheek against the fencing. As I began to stroke her fur through the fencing I noticed that Aracelli was severely emaciated with her ribs and spine showing, her skin was flaky and most of the fur on her back was missing. We could see the extent of the neglect she had suffered. She was barely one year old and already had a litter of puppies; her body looked so fragile from lack of nutrition. We adopted her on the spot. After we had adopted her, we discovered that she had been abused so bad that her intestine was pushed up into her chest cavity and her lung had collapsed as a result. Surgery was required which resulted in the removal of her spleen, inflation of her lung, repair to her diaphragm, and correct placement of her intestines. During the time from when we adopted her to when she had her surgery we worked to get Aracelli strong. So we went to our local pet store to find her a good quality food. We came across the Freshpet refrigerator and bought a bag. She, as well as our other dog, loved it from the start. To this day when we feed her, she hops on her back paws and spins in circles until her food dish is on the floor. Within a week, we saw an immediate change in Aracelli. Her skin was no longer flakey, she had energy. As days went on, her fur was shiny and healthy and she began to fill out. We can't believe it is the same dog. She loves Freshpet so much!
