B'Elanna’s Story

B'Elanna came into Kansas City Sheltie Rescue in terrible shape. A retired breeding dog, she was in such poor health that the breeder was hesitant to surrender B'Elanna to us. The breeder felt that 8 year old B'Elanna's days were numbered. I almost begged to let us take her. B'Elanna came in with a very thin coat, missing hair around her collar, as shown in the first photo. Her bloodwork was off the chart, indicating severe malnutrition. I tried to slowly transition her to Freshpet food, but she refused to eat the kibble she had been previously fed. She would lick the Freshpet off of her kibble and leave it. So, I gave up and fed her straight Freshpet Slice and Serve. The second photo was taken just 3 weeks later - look at how her collar area filled in with healthy fur!
